Questions
NURSERY FAQ's
Are your team members trained and DBS checked?
Absolutely. All workshop leaders are trained, experienced in early years education, and fully DBS checked.
What if a child has allergies or dietary restrictions?
We always ask for allergy information in advance and adapt the tasting experience accordingly. All foods are plant-based and age-appropriate. We don't use dairy products or any form of nuts or wheat.
Allergy Awareness & Food Safety
At The Fresh Friends, the health and safety of every child is our top priority, especially when it comes to food allergies and sensitivities. We take a proactive, thoughtful approach to ensure all children can safely enjoy our nutrition workshops.
Before the Workshop:
- We request all nurseries and settings to provide detailed allergy and dietary information at least 5 working days before the session.
- Our team reviews all allergy forms and plans the food tasting element accordingly, ensuring any allergens are avoided or swapped.
During the workshop:
- Children with allergies are carefully supervised during any food activities.
- All tasting items are presented clearly, and children are never pressured to try anything.
- Strict handwashing and table-cleaning protocols are followed before and after tasting.
- Our workshop hosts are trained in allergy awareness and early years safety procedures.
Important Notes:
- All foods we bring are plant-based and age-appropriate.
- We do not use nuts or nut-based products in any workshop.
- Cross-contamination is carefully avoided through separate prep and storage.
If your setting has a child with a severe allergy or an EpiPen protocol, we are happy to liaise directly with staff ahead of time to ensure the session runs smoothly and safely.
